GION MATSURI in KYOTO


ever seen DECORATED JAPANESE FLOATS?
ever listened to RHYTHMICAL JAPANESE MUSIC from the FLOATS?
You will know them at GION MATSURI in KYOTO!!!
It is one of the LARGEST FESTIVAL in Japan.
Here are MAIN EVENTS of it.

Yoi-Yama ( Eve of the Festival )
date : 14th-16th/July
time : EVENING
@ Shijo street
   Yasaka shrine, and so on

just AROUND the CORNER from Kyoto Hostel!!!

MANY JAPANESE LANTERNS LIT UP on street.

BEAUTIFUL!!

Yama-Hoko Junko ( The Grand Procession )
date : 17th/July
time : 9AM START
@ Oike street,Kawaramachi street, Yasaka Shrine, and so on
just AROUND the CORNER from Kyoto Hostel
The FLOATS are so BIG and HEAVY
that bunches of BAMBOO are spread
at each street corner
to help the floats make a turn.
very EXCITING.
